YOUR SECRET ADMIRER

Oh, are the mid-February lovey-dovey vibes sneaking up on us? It’s practically in the air we breathe – the very aroma of the commercial love bug! But I’m feeling spicy and fruity in the midst of the love month, not because it’s “Valentine’s Day,” but because I’m feeling the collective Amore – and as it should be every day, dripping with love, respect, gratitude, and sensuality. While riding this pink wave, let’s not forget those unassuming charms that send our hearts into a flutter. Like the pocket-sized turtle you adored in your kiddo days, the Nintendo games that were glued to your hands, the secret places where you found magic, the dances that slowed time, the food you devoured with your hands, the heart-to-hearth talks with strangers, and the strawberry kisses, or the moment you felt the inferno of a newly found passion.

No matter what your attitude toward love may be, we at DCC have prepared a selection of self-love tips for you to pour into your day.

First things first, Loving yourself can take many shapes and forms, as there is no one-size-fits-all guide. However, over the years, I have come across resources that have filled my heart with love, and I would love to share them with you:

1. All about love: New Visions by Bell Hooks

I’ve been pondering Bell Hooks’ reflections on love and find myself nodding in agreement with M. Scott Peck’s view of love as “the will to extend one’s self for the purpose of nurturing one’s own or another’s spiritual growth.” It simply means that love is the tender act of nurturing the spirit within oneself and in another. And this love doesn’t have to be romantic. “To love well,” as Bell Hooks says, “is the task in all meaningful relationships, not just romantic bonds.”

2.Love Your Lady Landscape by Lisa Lister

This witty and witchy book will show you how to listen to your precious body and your sex center. There’s so much wisdom, juicy tidbits, and practices that I have loved, and some that I skipped because they didn’t resonate with me. I think anyone identifying as a woman should give this a read.

    3. Authentic Sex with Juliet Allen

I love this woman. Let’s get into my favorite podcast about all things sex, self-love, pleasure, and relationships, hosted by Australian Sexologist Juliet Allen. There is absolutely something valuable for everyone.

What You Wear on Your Skin

What graces your skin sets the stage for how fabulously you feel. So, for those who live and breathe sensuality and comfort, velvet, and silk are your go-to for everything from chic loungewear to those luxe duvet covers that turn your bed into a boudoir. Silk isn’t just fabric; it’s a caress, smooth and sumptuous, cascading over your curves like a secret only your skin knows. Velvet? Oh, its drama and dreams spun together, catching the light in a wink, its plushness a tender embrace in the night’s quiet hours. And let’s not overlook leather—it’s the bold statement, the strut in your step, durable and unapologetically head-turning. Whatever your palette—be it rich forest green, bold scarlet, or soft baby blue—wrap yourself in these textures. Whether you’re lounging in silk, draped in velvet, or stepping out in leather, you’ll not just look but feel every bit the sensation you are.
